BY MARCY SHORTUSE – Sad news came by the way of Thonotosassa this week, as we found out that a popular angler in our waters was gunned down by his own brother.
Scott Tomlinson, 51, was shot and killed by his brother, Todd Tomlinson, of Plant City, according to Hillsborough County law enforcement. They believe it was due to a domestic situation.
Todd Tomlinson was still armed when deputies located him after the call came in that a man was found dead in a home, and there was a standoff. Todd was then killed as well.
According to a Tampa ABC news station, when deputies arrived at Scott’s home in Thonotosassa they found Todd in the driveway with a handgun. He refused to drop the weapon when deputies told him to, and he was killed. Deputies searched Scott’s home and found him dead, shot multiple times.
Tomlinson could be found in Boca Grande Pass almost every tarpon season, and was a friend to many local anglers. Scott had participated in many of the local tournaments over the years as well.
He owned Tomlinson Brothers Construction Company. Scott had recently remarried and had become a grandfather as well.
