The Johann Fust Community Library will be closed Tuesday, Aug. 25 and Wednesday, Aug. 26, for installation of hurricane protection panels by the Johann Fust Library Foundation.
Vegetable garden workshop offered
Calling all gardeners! Whether you have a seasoned green thumb or are ready to dig into vegetable gardening for the first time, learn how to make the most of Southwest Florida’s fall growing season at the Vegetable Gardening in Southwest Florida workshop.
The workshop will be offered on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 10 a.m. to noon at Mid-County Regional Library, 4050 Forest Nelson Blvd., Port Charlotte and on Friday, Sept. 18, from 10 a.m. to noon at Ann & Chuck Dever Regional Park Recreation Center.
Presented by UF/IFAS Extension Charlotte County Master Gardener Volunteers, the workshop will provide practical tips to help participants get their fall vegetable gardens off to a great start.

Kayak launch reopens
Improvements to the natural kayak launch at Tippecanoe Environmental Park, which began July 6, 2026, are anticipated to be completed by Aug. 31, 2026. The kayak launch will be closed during this time. The remainder of the park will remain open.
