Lee County adds email address for parking concerns; will put email sticker on back of BG signage
Lee County has created an email address for questions about the new Boca Grande parking regulations. It is BocaGrandeParkingCommittee@leegov.com.
The email address came about after merchants and residents were concerned that signs, including a “By Permit Only” resident sign, had gone up across the island before parking permits were ready or even announced. Potential fines on the books for violators are $200 plus the risk of towing and impoundment. Currently the Lee County Sheriff’s Office is using “reasonable discretion” in enforcement.

They will also be adding a sticker to the back of each of the signs that are installed across the Lee County side of Gasparilla Island. An Aug. 7 ordinance mandated signage; there are 451 signpoles in the process of being installed. County staff were out this past weekend, including Sunday, installing signage.
“This will be where Boca residents and business owners can write to us about concerns or send us questions,” said Betsy Clayton, the county’s Communications Director. “We also will be placing stickers on the back of each installed sign – the stickers will have the email address on them, too.”
The Parking Committee has not met, as only nine of its 15 members have been selected by Lee County commissioners.
