Cell tower plans are looking to be on track

Progress is being made on the island’s new permanent cellphone tower, as communication has been flowing with Vertical Bridge – the tower company – and contact has even been made with the individual cellphone carriers.

The Boca Grande Cell Tower Committee has stated that they have also been in contact with  Joe Steele, of T Steele Construction, whose company will actually be installing the tower. Steele told the group they are waiting on engineer approval from the Gasparilla Island Bridge Authority for information as to how to proceed with bringing loads of steel over the Boca Grande Causeway.  

All DOT permits are approved, Vertical Bridge has finalized their contract, and representatives from the group say it should all start coming together.
