STAFF REPORT – On Saturday, Feb. 29 dinner and disco are on the agenda on the grounds of the Boca Grande Community Center, as The Island School will hold their annual chowder dinner at the Crowninshield Community House from 5 to 7 p.m., and the Friends of the Boca Grande Community Center will hold a free disco concert on the lawn at 5:30 p.m.
Chowder is what’s for dinner that night beginning at 5 p.m., with 16 of our finest local restaurants dishing out the tasty fare, along with rolls, salad, desserts and a drink.
A 50/50 raffle will also be held, and a silent auction as well. Prizes will include:
• A three- course surf & turf dinner with additional appetizers for eight people, prepared in your home by Chef Trish Mcilroy;
• Dinner for four at The Boca Bay Pass Club (excluding alcohol);
• One golf lesson with Robert Duke at The Gasparilla Inn & Club;
• Fishing trips with Capt. Charlie Coleman, Capt. David Chatham or Capt. Blake Cheske;
• Boca Grande Limousine airport transportation;
• A sunset dolphin cruise  with Capt. Jon Bauer;
• “A Big and Ugly Big” game expedition;

After enjoying the chowder, raffle and auction, step out to the Community Center lawn and Friends Pavilion to experience “Saturday Night Fever!” with Friends of Boca Grande’s own Kyle Rich as the DJ. Bring your dancing shoes and boogie down, and feel free to bring your own beverages, adult or otherwise.
