■ STAFF REPORT
The Boca Beacon and Lee County Parks & Recreation is proud, once again, to sponsor the 2015 Turkey Hoop Shoot. It will be held on Saturday, Nov. 21 and begins at 10 a.m. Register the day of the event between 9:15 and 9:45 a.m. on the basketball courts of the Boca Grande Community Center. Too little to reach the hoop? There will be competition in all age ranges, including smaller baskets for little ones. Categories include co-ed 4 and under, co-ed 5 to 6, and separate male and female divisions for ages 7 to 8, 9 to 10, 11 to 14 and 15 and up. Prizes will be awarded to the first- place winner of each division. Contestants will shoot 15 shots from several locations around the court. The three top competitors in each age division will advance to the final round. All children must be supervised during the event. The competition is free, but you stand the chance of winning some pretty great prizes. Call 964-2564 for more information.
The Boca Grande Area Chamber of Commerce will host the 2015 Christmas Walk in downtown Boca Grande on Saturday, Nov. 28 from 5 to 8 p.m. There will be great sales in the stores that stay open late, as well as food, drinks, music, the traditional luminary walk and, of course, a visit from Santa via the kind folks at the Boca Grande Fire Department. Santa will be meeting with the children in front of The Loose Caboose Restaurant at 4th Street and Park Avenue between 6 and 7 p.m. Just listen for the sounds of the fire trucks to know he’s coming! If you have any questions, call the Boca Grande Chamber at 964-0568.
