For the 20th consecutive year, the collection barrels for non-perishable food are out. All food that is collected will be delivered to the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida.
The barrels are located at the Boca Grande Lighthouse Methodist Church, the Boca Grande Post Office, Kappy’s Market and Sea Oats.
In total, last year (ending on October 31) the food bank distributed 9,500 tons of food throughout four counties. More than 850 tons went to Charlotte County food pantries.
Among those receiving and distributing food were East Englewood Church of Christ and the Charlotte County Homeless Coalition.
