Sandra “Sandy” Kinder Bertsch, 82, passed away on May 31, 2024, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 15, 1941, in Harrisburg, PA to Harold and Charlotte (Halcro) Kinder, she was a resident of Boca Grande, Florida. Sandy attended Brown University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from New York University in 1963. In 1962, Sandy married Arthur William “Bill” Bertsch, Jr. Together, they raised their three children, Hilary, Will and Todd in Oyster Bay, New York. Sandy was a wonderful, caring and loving mother, grandmother and friend to all. She was known equally for her sense of humor and a deep compassion for everyone she met. Her elegant style and artistic flare were visible in everything she did, from being the owner of Sandra K. Bertsch Fine Arts Gallery to creating inviting family homes. As a volunteer, she served as Executive Vice President of Hyde Hall, Inc. (a New York state historic site) and was President of the Junior League of the North Shore (Long Island, NY). She was also the Secretary/Principal for A.W. Bertsch Inc. (a member of the NYSE). She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Bill; her daughter Hilary and partner Roger Salazar of Austin, Texas; her son and daughter-in-law, Will and Lindsey of Locust Valley, NY and their children Lila, William and Hayden; and their son Todd of Huntington, NY and his children Colin, Winn, Beckett and Merrill.

A Celebration of Life for Sandra Bertsch is planned for July 12 on Long Island. A Boca Grande service in her memory will follow in the fall.

The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to their Boca Grande neighbors, and particularly the Boca Grande Health Clinic, for their unwavering support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in her name to be made to Boca Grande Health Clinic Foundation.
