With only two weeks until the Lee County Board of Commissioners is scheduled to discuss the proposed Boca Grande parking ordinance, a community-organized petition to “Keep Boca Grande Open” is nearing 10,000 signatures.

The petition, which is addressed to the Lee County Commissioners and was created by longtime resident Mila Wyman, advocates for keeping the community’s beaches and parking areas open for “responsible public use.”

At press time, the petition on Moveon.org was up to 9,357 signatures.

Next week, the county will distribute an agenda for the 9:30 a.m. Aug. 5 meeting. Typically, agendas are sent out the Wednesday before the meeting. When the agenda is released, it will be on leecofl.portal.civicclerk.com. Further details will appear in the Aug. 1 edition of the Beacon.
