The Barrier Island Parks Society (BIPS), in partnership with Keep Lee County Beautiful, has announced the 2024 International Coastal Beach Cleanup on Boca Grande, a vital part of the global initiative to protect oceans and coastlines.
The beach cleanup will be held from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21 starting at the 7th Street Beach (Gasparilla Island Lighthouse, 220 Gulf Blvd.).
This year marks the 37th anniversary of this worldwide effort, and volunteers of all ages are invited to participate in keeping shores clean.
Over the past five years, 11,000 dedicated volunteers have removed more than 90,000 pounds of trash from Lee County’s waterways.
All are welcome to join this community effort.
To volunteer or for more information, contact the Barrier Island Parks Society at (941) 964-0060 or visit BIPS.org/events.
