Richard George Robb, died early morning on Nov. 9, 2021 in the company of his wife, Nancy and his Labrador Retriever, Ava. He had endured a long illness.

Richard (Dick) was a gentleman who spent the better part of his retirement, working to improve the lives of others.

He was a proponent of animal rights, leading to decades of vegetarianism and conservation, as he would say, “ letting nature wiggle.”

Through his work as a trustee of the Park Foundation, as well as his own generosity, he helped to create refuge for both domestic and wild animals.

He was known for his quick wit and easy smile. A friend who was always ready to listen with empathy.

He enjoyed playing tennis in the mornings and meeting with the Live Poets’ Society of Boca Grande.

He loved his three sons, Richard, David and Karl.

He is missed by all of us.

Leave the Kid Alone

It was a tough area:

Bullies, drunks, small gangs

And just too many mean, hard people.

Pushing, always pushing.

It’s a way of life.

It was too easy to fall into harm’s way.

Into situations with seemingly no exit.

But I recall a champion out of nowhere Saying “leave the kid alone.”

In a voice whose determination

Left no question.

The predicament came to a halt.

And I was able to slip away.

Now, years later, I wonder with gratitude

What became of him? How do I thank him?
