Richard D. Simonds passed away on July 31, 2022 at the age of 86 after a long and wonderful life.
He was born on May 12, 1936 in Evanston, Illinois, attended New Trier High School and Yale University, from which he graduated in 1958 with a degree in history. He then went to business school and graduated with an M.B.A. from Northwestern in 1960.
After a brief period at Price Waterhouse, he became Treasurer and eventually a part-owner of Wisconsin Tool & Stamping Co. in Schiller Park until his retirement in 1998.
A CPA, Richard served as treasurer of the villages of Northfield and Kenilworth, as well as many other organizations, throughout his life. He was active in the Kenilworth Union Church. He and his wife Bonnie spent many summers in Boca Grande, where they played bridge, tennis and read books.
Richard was devoted to his wife and family, to Yale and his church. He had a sweet sense of humor, a quiet, charming personality and was dearly loved by all who knew him. Richard is survived by his wife Bonnie; his three sons, Richard (Jr.), Randall and Thomas; eight grandchildren; and his brother Steve.
