Obituary: Capt. Jimmy Robertson

obit-jimmy-flounderCaptain James “Jimmy” Andrew Robertson, 60, passed away peacefully Saturday July 11, 2015.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years Marjie; his daughter, Julie Jean (Jon); his beloved grandchildren, Savannah and Hunter; his Mother, Joan; sisters Susan, Kathy, Barbara and Mary; his brother,Tommy; many nieces and nephews; and his three Labrador retrievers, Ben, Jerry and Bubba.
He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley.
Jimmy was born May 12, 1955 in Morristown, N.J. His family moved to Clearwater when Jimmy was 4.
He developed a passion for fishing and lived at Pier 60 during his youth. He started working on boats at Clearwater Marina in his teenage years and spent the summers working on the FLO JO with Capt. Nick Lopez in Boca Grande.
Jimmy started commercial fishing for at the age of 18. He would still fish tarpon season in Boca Grande with Nick and Wayne Markam. Jimmy and Marjie decided in 1982 to make Boca Grande their permanent home with their daughter Julie Jean. Jimmy commercial grouper fished aboard the Miss Ann until 1984 when a rogue wave hit the boat and she needed repair. Jimmy then took a private captain job with Mckeel Family of Lakeland, FL. Jimmy fished the Big Mac for most of the 80s with the Mckeels winning their fair share of Millers Tournaments. In 1992 Jimmy purchased the Julie Jean to start his own charter boat business. Having much success for the past 20 years doing what he loved.
There will be a Celebration of Life Thursday July 23rd in Boca Grande Pass at 5 pm, leaving the Pink Docks at 4:30 pm. Drinks to follow at The Temptation.
