Addition to Banyan residence also on Preservation Board agenda Wednesday
There are two cases in front of the Boca Grande Historic Preservation Board on Wednesday, Aug. 14, including the renovation of a residence at 235 Banyan St., across from the Crowninshield House, and alterations and updates to the 3rd Street Bistro, at 310 East Railroad Ave.
Both of the buildings are non-contributing buildings to the historic district, which means that they need to be compatible with the overall district, yet have different guidelines.
At top right, a before and after drawing of 3rd Street Bistro, in drawings form Larson Architecture Works, 501 5th Ave., New York. The top shows the existing building, and the bottom shows improvements, including a balustrade and new windows.
At bottom right, two views of 235 Banyan. The mass of the building will increase with the addition of a new bedroom above the garage, as well as a breezeway to connect the rest of the house. The materials will match the existing, according to drawings submitted to Lee County by Burza Engineering of Bradenton.
At immediate right are views of 3rd Street Bistro before and after Hurricane Ian, from the review package submitted to the county. The overall footprint of the restaurant will stay the same, and the existing shell golf cart parking around the exterior will remain.
The tenant for the property has not yet been announced.
