To the Editor:
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the Boca Grande Clinic, its doctors, nurses and staff. What a comfort to be able to turn to them for solid advice and care in these strange and scary times.
We recently experienced “breakthrough” Covid cases after contact with an unvaccinated construction worker and despite the fact that we were wearing masks in crowds and, obviously, had been vaccinated.
Once they determined we had Covid, the clinic sprang into action. There were daily calls to check on our status. Dr. Hana phoned at 8 p.m. on a Friday to inquire about how we were feeling and to answer any questions we might have. The doctors at the clinic also recommended we have Regeneron (antibody) infusions, which we received at Venice Hospital.
We were fortunate to have “mild” cases. Our symptoms were similar to a sinus infection and lasted about a week.
Our little island may be known for its excellent fishing and beautiful weather, but surely having the Boca Grande Clinic and its compassionate people available in times of need is one of our greatest blessings.
