The flooding the island experienced was bad, but this is worse. We have very little to no beach left from 1st to 5th Street. The ramp that went down to the beach at The Gasparilla Inn Beach Club is gone as well. Down by the Boca Bay Pass Club, the beach has eroded away as well, and the force of the waves even threw some of the boulders up above the seawall.
Shown here is the waterline and seawall from The Gasparilla Inn Beach Club down to Banyan Street beach access. And the rocks you couldn’t see before, don’t forget those. Since we already have a few flamingos, maybe we could have a sea lion or two on the rocks.
Oh, and by the way, to all of those who voted us “Best Small Beach Town?” Thanks for jinxing it.
