Historic Preservation Board to meet next week to discuss numerous request, including one from Catholic Church

STAFF REPORT-The Boca Grande Historic Preservation Board will meet for the first time in a long time, on Wednesday, June 10 at 10 a.m. in the Woman’s Club Room at the Boca Grande Community Center.
There are several items on the agenda, including the following:
• The homeowner at 461 Palm Ave., the Candler residence, is asking for a Special Certificate of Appropriateness (Case SCA2020-00007) to re-roof the main residence, and to change their roof material from asphalt shingle to metal standing seam.
• The property owner at 890 E. Railroad Ave., the Sarkes residence, is asking for a Special Certificate of Appropriateness (Case SCA2020-00009), for a proposed new generator and platform at the southeast corner of the property. 
• The property owner at  340 Tarpon Ave., is asking for a Special Certificate of Appropriateness (SCA2020-00006), to replace the paver patio at the residence with a screened porch.
• The property owner at 350 Tarpon Ave., the McGowan residence, is asking for a Special Certificate of Appropriateness (SCA2020-00008), to add a pool and sandset paver deck.
• The property owner at 1841 18th St., the Carlson residence, is asking for a Special Certificate of Appropriateness (SCA2020-00010), to add a 4’8” x 4’8” freestanding sauna at the rear of house.
• Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, located at 221 W. Railroad Ave., is asking for a Special Certificate of Appropriateness (SCA2019-00036), to demolish an existing single-family home on the land and to construct an accessory parish hall, with associated site improvements.
• Other items by the public or by board members may be discussed as well.
The public is invited to the meeting.
