Wednesday meeting looks at center, two projects
The Boca Grande Historic Preservation Board is meeting at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10 at the Boca Grande Community Center Woman’s Club Room. The Lee County Department of Community Development Planning Section released the meeting agenda and backup material on Friday, June 28, including new Community Center remodel details.
The request to the Historic Preservation Board for the Community Center includes the demolition of the existing multi-purpose building, the construction of a new auditorium building and additions to the Crowninshield and Dishong Bowen houses, as well as to The Island School.
Staff reviewed the Certificate of Appropriateness application package and found that the project was substantially consistent with the design guidelines for the Boca Grande Historic District and the Lee Development Code. They are recommending approval of the certificate to permit building and site modifications, according to the document.
