Commissioners to approve donation from Boca Grande Disaster Fund for Wheeler Road Community Park Improvements
On Tuesday, March 21 Lee County Commissioners will discuss and, hopefully, approve the donation made by the Lighthouse United Methodist Church Boca Grande Disaster Fund to improve the facilities at Wheeler Road. These include the dog park, tennis courts and more.
The donation of $140,000 was presented last month.
According to the county this donation agreement will allow for additional amenities, more accessible pathways and enhanced landscaping to include mature shade trees at Wheeler Road Community Park.
If passed it will award competitively solicited contracts to American Facility Services, Inc., At Your Service Cleaning Group, Inc., and United States Service Industries, Inc. for custodial services in Lee County Central Zone, on an as-needed basis for an initial three-year period with an option to renew the contracts up to an additional three years.
Commissioners will also discuss approval of an extension of the county’s state of emergency due to Hurricane Ian. The first was issued for March 13, the second for March 20. Chapter 252 of the Florida Statutes limits the duration of each State of Local Emergency to seven days and it may be extended, as necessary, for additional terms in seven day increments.
