Come share the light with Rev. Matt and Joy and Lynda Jamison

The Lighthouse Church will host a musical concert to benefit the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 29. A second show will be added at 6 p.m. if the first show sells out.
Recording artist Lynda Jamison will be joined by Rev. Matthew Williams, Joy Williams and residents from the children’s home for an evening of inspirational music.
Tickets are $40 each and can be purchased at the Lighthouse Church office at 325 W. Third Street in Boca Grande. Tickets are also available for purchase at the Boca Beacon office located at 431 Park Avenue.
“Pastor Matthew asked me last year if I’d be interested in doing a concert. Then he suggested we could make it a fundraiser. I’ve been involved with the Methodist home for years, so without hesitation I accepted it,” Jamison said.
Attending the concert will be Kitwana McTyer, Florida United Methodist Children’s Home CEO; Elisabeth Gadd, vice president of development; and several children.
McTyer said she is grateful for the opportunity to come with the children to Boca Grande.
The Boca Grande community has partnered with the home over the years. The residents have been instrumental in providing support for the children, paving the way to enable the home to establish an on-campus school with its social-emotional learning component, as well as ensuring the children have the financial support to seek higher education.
“From the time our children enter our campus until the day they earn their wings to set off on their own, Boca Grande plays an active part in their success. We are overjoyed about the upcoming concert and greatly appreciate the Lighthouse Church for spearheading this exciting event which will benefit our children,” McTyer said.
All proceeds from the concert go to support the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home, a private, faith-based, nonprofit organization that provides care to children and families throughout Florida. Children come to the FUMCH because of abuse, abandonment or family breakdown. A majority of referrals come from pastors, families, schools and courts. The Florida United Methodist Children’s Home was established in 1908 in Enterprise, Florida. It serves more than 400 children each day.
The Lighthouse Church has been a longtime supporter of the home and has seen the results of children who have been in its care. The Lighthouse Church supports the home’s emphasis on mind, body and soul. In addition to having a safe and secure home environment, the children are provided with weekly counseling support to overcome their past through a spiritual life program.
Following the concert, everyone is invited to visit the children’s home display and enjoy refreshments in Fellowship Hall.
