The Christian radio station WSEB 91.3 FM, that giant tower in Cape Haze, was off air after recent hurricanes.

Their difficult month started with a rowdy hive of honeybees that moved into the tower, at the same time the air conditioner stopped working. With the AC not working the transmitter shut down, as it was over 100 degrees in the tower site. The tower site sits behind Apulia Restaurant and the Ace Hardware. With a foot and a half of water on the road to the tower, no one could get there to fix it.

The tower site received a storm surge from both of the storms. Offices in Englewood on Dearborn Street were not affected.

After the road dried, they were able to fix the AC and found that they were missing a phase at the pole, which most likely caused all the problems, but not the bees.

“At 6:30 p.m. last night,” said General Manager Ken Lindow in an email to the Beacon, “all the problems were fixed and we are now back on the air. No direct damage from the storms, so praise God!”
