Arnold Sayer Rapoport, M.D., passed peacefully on Monday August 3, 2026, at the age of 91, at his home in Cornwall, VT. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he lived most of his life in Upstate New York, though in later years he enjoyed splitting his time between residences in Boca Grande, FL, Cornwall, VT and Schroon Lake, NY.

A graduate of University of Pennsylvania and Albany Medical College, he was a physician in private practice in the Albany, NY area for most of his career, after serving time in the United States Navy and specializing in Otorhinolaryngology. He truly loved practicing medicine, performing surgery, caring for his patients and being involved in various professional organizations. In his personal time, “Arnie” was happiest outdoors, surrounded by nature and animals, tinkering on projects, fishing, boating or traveling with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia H. Rapoport; his son Mark Rapoport and partner Guinevere Frayne of Jacksonville, NC and his children Justin and Meagan; his son Steve Rapoport and wife Lynne of Vergennes, VT and their children Dylan and Carlyn; his daughter Karen Rapoport Zinn and husband Carter of Mill Valley, CA and their children Colton and Kyla; and his stepdaughter, Elizabeth Broadwater and husband Glen DeCilio of Princeton, MA and their child Henry.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Abraham Moses Rapoport and Katherine Chatlin Rapoport. According to his wishes, a private family service will be held in his honor. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be directed to his scholarship fund, the Morris Chatlin Memorial Scholarship Fund, at Albany Medical College: albanymed.org/albany-medical-center-foundation/giving
