A little more info on the Lemon Creek Wildflower Preserve walks

There are a wide variety of guided nature walks at the Lemon Creek Wildflower Preserve coming this spring. These walks will include viewing natural habitats of resident birds and butterflies, flowers and the vast ecological wonders out at the Preserve.

There are a wide variety of guided nature walks at the Lemon Creek Wildflower Preserve coming this spring. These walks will include viewing natural habitats of resident birds and butterflies, flowers and the vast ecological wonders out at the Preserve.

April 15, 8 to 11 a.m.: Tarpon pull team will meet by the equipment shed at the Lemon Creek Wildflower Preserve to load the seine net and other equipment in the Jon boat. 

Volunteers may park in the lot at the Preserve and then walk to the pond area or drive directly over to Fiddlers Green Condominiums and use their designated car park. The net pull will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m., starting at the smaller of the two ponds. Participants are encouraged to bring along waders, gloves, a hat, a water bottle and insect repellent. No experience is required. Photographers are needed and always welcome to participate.

Sunday, April,16, 9 to 10 a.m.: For those of you interested in learning more about the Labyrinth and becoming a volunteer guide, there will be a Docent Training session at the Labyrinth on the Hill. This is a free event and is open to all. Please be sure to wear comfortable shoes to walk in, a hat, water bottle and sunscreen.

April  26, 9 to10 a.m.: Anne Boney will lead a guided tour of the Labyrinth on the Hill at Lemon Creek Wildflower Preserve meeting at the kiosk area. Anne is a founding member of the Pilgrim’s Landing Labyrinth on Cape Cod and is a member of the faculty and Board of Directors of Veriditas, known widely as the International Organization of the modern Labyrinth movement. Join us for an introspective, instructional, inspirational journey through the seven circuits of the new Labyrinth on the Hill. All are welcome. Participants are invited to journal, video, photograph, and wear protective footwear. 

April 29, 9 to 10:30 a.m.: James Peterfeso will lead a guided butterfly expedition meeting at the Butterfly Habitat, and continuing onward to the preserve trails. Join us as we explore the grassy areas near Hosman, Moorhen, and Verna’s ponds. Please bring your binoculars, cameras, water bottles, sunscreen and bug repellent. All participants should wear comfortable, protective attire, especially footwear.
