The 5th grade students at The Island School “took a walk on the moon.” Students wore “moon shoes” on the beach to simulate a moon walk as part of their Earth and Space Science unit.

GICIA’s Bike Path Committee marked the bike path at half mile intervals to help users time their pace as part of the plan to improve and extend the path.

FORTY YEARS AGO

A family of five osprey were moved from their home atop the 108-foot-tall railroad bridge over Gasparilla Sound to a new pole about 300 feet south so the railroad bridge could be transported.

The 72-foot shrimper Carol was seized by U.S. Customs off Boca Grande. Three Americans and six Colombians were taken into custody for their 15-ton “catch” of marijuana.
