John ‘Jack’ Moore 1931-2026

John “Jack” Joseph Moore, 94, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Marjorie Moore, and his loving parents, Raymond Joseph and Corinne Casey Moore, and his siblings Mary Lou, Ray, Jim and Bill. He is survived by his first wife and the mother of his children, Mary Grace Moore.

He was the devoted father of John (Brookie Kramer) Moore, Chris (Jeff) Meyers, Sue (Phil) Ames, Patti (Russ) Meier, Maggie (Joel) Montgomery, and Jimmy (Lisa Miller) Moore; loving stepfather of Kelly McCown (Barb), Lisa Walden (David), and Laura McCown; loving grandfather of 25; loving great-grandfather of 29 and counting. He attended CBC High School where he played varsity tennis four years, varsity basketball two years and was captain and all-prep in basketball and tennis his senior year. He attended St. Louis University and played four years of basketball and tennis while getting his Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce. He served in the 2nd Infantry Division in Korea, representing his division on the basketball team, and competing against other divisions of the Army, Navy, Marines and Air Force. He received an honorable discharge, returned to St. Louis and entered the insurance business. Jack retired from Lincoln National Life Insurance Company after more than 30 years and then divided his time between St. Louis and Boca Grande, FL. He was an avid golfer and gin player. He spent much of his time on the golf course playing at Westborough CC, (where he had been a member for over 60 years), Lemon Bay (FL) and Rotonda (FL). He had six holes in one and shot his age or better over 150 times in his golfing career! His later years were spent reading, playing cards and shooting pool at Aberdeen Heights in Kirkwood. A celebration of life will be held on March 7 at Westborough Country Club. In lieu of flowers, donations made in Jack’s name may be made to CBC High School or St. Louis University.
