The Anchor Inn, after a full renovation this fall, will reopen to guests this weekend. Its first guests are reported to be a newlywed couple.
While the building’s grounds were damaged during Hurricanes Helene and Milton, the building, which sits up on a foundation, was higher than the flood waters. Its four rental units have been completely redesigned.
The owners, the King family, had a complete renovation of the building led by Don Daughtry of Grande D&C Construction, with design work by Charles Wittmaak, and interiors by Liz Johnston, of Interiors 7.
The Anchor Inn is a contributing building to the Downtown Boca Grande Historic District, on the state and federal National Register of Historic Places nomination form, which dates from 2008. It is described by as a “frame vernacular” building and it is dated in the listing as circa 1925. The Howell House/Palmetto Inn building across the street dates from 1909.
The rentals are listed exclusively by Boca Grande Real Estate. The Inn is divided into four small apartments, with a tiny pool in the back garden. There are two one-bedroom units, and two two-bedroom units. The units are available by the month, week or three-day period, and run approximately from $265 to $550 a night, not including taxes and fees.
