jojoJoAnne (Jo Jo) Faulstich passed away on June 29, 2015 in Southwest Florida after a lengthy illness. She was a native of California and lived in Boca Grande for more than 30 years.
Jo Jo graduated from Redlands High School in Redlands, Calif. in 1972. She attended Humboldt State in the 1970s, where she pursued an art degree.
She moved to Colorado in 1977 to start her culinary career in the competitive, high-end restaurant world of Boulder and Denver, Colo.
In 1981, she moved to Tampa, where she worked as a catering chef. While catering for an event in Boca Grande, she fell in love with the island. Within a couple of years, she purchased a bungalow on the island to call home.
Art was always her first love; many of her beautiful mosaics continue to adorn the homes of Boca Grande.
She was also a founding member of the Boca Grande Art Alliance, where she taught classes and was an active member of the community.
In her later life, Jo Jo became a loving caretaker for her family. She first cared for her parents, when they relocated to Venice from Washington. She selflessly cared for her younger brother, Pat Faulstich, after he was diagnosed with cancer.
She dedicated her life to caring and loving her family.
JoJo is remembered for being a warm, free spirit. She loved to entertain by hosting parties, where she cooked memorable meals for her friends and family. Known for her ability to bring people together, JoJo was always at the center of a large network of friends and family – a tight-knit group that will miss her dearly.
She was a warm, loving woman, whose boundless talent and creative drive created lasting memories for all who knew her.
Jo Jo is survived by her nephew, Joe Faulstich; her partner, Arnall Cox; and her lovable cat, Cosmo.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Claire Faulstich and Joseph Faulstich, by her older brother, Don Faulstich, and by her younger brother, Pat Faulstich.
A celebration of life service will take place later this year near Englewood. Please contact jfaulstich@gmail.com for further updates on when and where the event will be held.
