Get your tickets now for the 9th annual Tennis Ball fundraiser planned for Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The event, themed “Fete for Pets,” will be held at the clubhouse at the Boca Grande Club, located at 5000 Gasparilla Road on the island.

Tickets are $125, and proceeds will benefit the Suncoast Humane Society. The event will include dinner, drinks and a live and silent auction.

“For the second year, we are offering our guests a sit-down gourmet dinner including beverages, and our exciting live and silent auctions. The auctions offer upscale items, including art and entertainment packages.

Among the many items available for auction, attendees can expect a “Swayze & Sangria” painting class with Carroll Swayze; Boca Grande Fireman’s Cookout for 30; a one-week stay in Bath, England; a Cooper’s Hall Winery Tasting, Naples Hotel Stay and dinner at Chop239; a Bennelli Classica Electric Bike; Two Seadoo Jet Skis; and entertainment/dining packages from your local favorites,” said Eva Edukonis, events and development manager for Suncoast Humane Society.

Edukonis said 184 people attended last year’s festivities. The event raised more than $60,000, benefiting the services, programs and homeless animals of Suncoast Humane Society.

Members of The Boca Grande Club organized the event with the support of Grande Aire Services and Italiano Insurance Agency. All proceeds from the event will be used to support the day-to-day care of the animals and community programs that Suncoast Humane Society offers. The organization helps the homeless animals entrusted to its care in Boca Grande, Englewood and the surrounding areas.

Tickets are available at the Boca Grande Club. Call 941-964-2211. You can also purchase tickets at the Suncoast Humane Society, located at 3781 San Casa Drive in Englewood or at any of their thrift stores: 228 S. Indiana Ave. in Englewood, 1825 Tamiami Trail in Port Charlotte or 656 Tamiami Trail in Venice. Tickets may also be purchased online at humane.org.

Edukonis said the event serves to kick off the Boca Grande Club’s six-week professional tennis exhibition tournament. The series will be held every Wednesday from February 1 through March 8 at the Boca Grande Club. There will be men’s, women’s and mixed doubles, featuring top professional and collegiate players.
