The Johann Fust Community Library received a new garden with the help of the Boca Grande Garden Club. Plants were provided by Hazeltine Nurseries, Inc.

The Charlotte County Commission voted to deny a rezoning request by a developer who wanted to build four-story “stack condos” along Coral Creek.
THIRTY YEARS AGO
The Boca Grande Fire District Board voted to purchase lots adjacent to the fire station on East Railroad Avenue to expand the fire district in the future.
THIRTY-FIVE YEARS AGO
Neil Armstrong came to Boca Grande and chartered with Capt. Mark Futch for a fishing trip. He caught and released a 115-pound tarpon aboard the Sitarah.
FORTY YEARS AGO
The Florida House of Representatives approved a local bill to allow The Gasparilla Inn to modernize and expand.
FORTY-FIVE YEARS AGO
Hudson’s Grocery was sold to Marvin and Jeanette Habor, formerly of Sarasota. They were going into business with Tommy and Gail McClenithan who would be operating the grocery.
