Boca Bay Pass Club kicked off its $3.5 million renovation project. The main dining room would be expanded to become the Gulf Grille with a larger bar and additional interior space.

The Gasparilla Island Bridge Authority announced that it would be implementing a trial exception period for overweight trucks which opened “Pandora’s Box” for debate.
FIFTEEN YEARS AGO
The 3rd Street Café held an egg-eating contest for adults and youngsters. Lt. Mike D’Angelo won the prize for the adult division and Grant Reecher won for the juvenile division.

The Coral Creek Club had a groundbreaking ceremony for its new clubhouse.
TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO
The Boca Grande Post Office door was vandalized. Nothing was apparently taken but the glass on the door had been broken.

The old clapboard home on Belcher Road was razed. Bowe’s Tractor Service demolished the building which was rotten and eaten up with termites.
THIRTY-FIVE YEARS AGO
An audit at Storer Cable identified there were households on the island receiving free cable.
FORTY YEARS AGO
The Boca Grande Club was taking a request for additional marina docking to the Charlotte County Planning Department.
FORTY-FIVE YEARS AGO
A Department of Environmental Regulation Hearing Examiner recommended denial of Sunset Realty Corporation request to construct a causeway bridge linking Boca Grande Isles to Three Sisters Island.
