We lost Bud Amen. Mila’s swim team did a great job in a California competition. Flood insurance rates had residents in an uproar.

FIFTEEN YEARS AGO

People were obeying village stop signs. Islanders went to a Charlotte County
Commission meeting to protest coastal development.

TWENTY YEARS AGO

The Community Center’s water sports camp was underway and a weekend storm dumped 8.5 inches of rain on the island.

TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO

One pound stood between Capt. Mike Bailey and back-to-back victories in two Millers Marina Tarpon Tournaments held that weekend. He almost had it. But not quite.

THIRTY YEARS AGO

There were 40 entrants signed up for the World’s Richest Tarpon Tournament, with more coming in at the last minute. Capt. Babe Darna took his team to win Miller’s fifth tournament of the season.
