Reno Runck III 1945-2026

Reno Frank Runck, III, 81, husband of Betty Louise Stevenson Runck, passed away Sunday, Oct. 11, 2026 at his home in Nicholas County. Born April 2, 1945 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Reno F., Jr. & Charlotte Jeanne Crosley Runck, he was a talented commercial and residential architect whom ran his eponymous firm for many years. Reno designed several well-known buildings in Kentucky and Ohio; Humana Hospital in Lexington, Nicholas County Hospital and Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church are but a few. He believed in giving back to both his home communities and to nature. An award-winning Master Conservationist and Arborist, he was a longstanding member of the Ohio Forestry Board, Cincinnatus Association and the Ohio Society.
Reno volunteered his time generously and assisted in many local projects over the years. He helped re-hang the iconic lighted flag on the Nicholas County Courthouse and donated freely to many organizations including the Nicholas County Fire Board. Reno greatly enjoyed spending time with his large extended family. As such, he served as the family event host, planning all the family vacations and get-togethers. In addition to being a skilled horseman, he loved travelling, being on the farm and fishing, was an avid collector of Crosley cars, and a born Cincinnati Reds fan.
Additional survivors include three children: Kimberly (Vincent) Sbanotto, Reno F. (Pamela) Runck, IV and Carrie Ann Runck (Mohamed Moctar); seven grandchildren: Melanie, Olivia, Victoria, Ryan, Timothy, Taylor and Hassan; and 6 great-grandchildren: Crosley, Briar, Kennedy, Alena, Lainey and Hudson, along with his beloved fur daughter, Liz.
