Joe (Joseph) Anderson, husband of Yvonne Anderson, CEO of the Boca Grande Club, died on Saturday, June 12, 2021. Joe died very peacefully at the Hospice house with Yvonne and his daughter, Stella, by his side.

Joe, who up until the beginning of May was enjoying a happy and active life, was diagnosed with liver cancer about four weeks ago.

Joe was very well known on the island. He and Yvonne have lived here for the past 28 years. Joe had a varied and successful professional life. In addition, he has been involved both formally and informally with numerous of the island charities over the years.

Above all Joe was a gentleman in the truest sense of the word and was helpful and kind to everyone. He loved doing many things but, his biggest love was science, especially physics, which he never stopped studying.

He will be missed very much by all who knew him, and especially by Yvonne and his entire family.

In response to the many inquiries that have been received, Suncoast Humane Society has established an unrestricted fund in Joe’s honor to accept donations to support their life saving work. Joe and Yvonne have always had a soft spot in their hearts for the animals, and have been life time supporters of Suncoast.

“He, stepping down

By zig-zag paths,

and juts of pointed rock,

Came to the shinning levels

of the lake.”

(A loved line from one of Joe’s favorite poems, Morte D’Arthur)
