Don L. Krabill, 70, of Elkhart, entered eternal life Sunday, Nov. 2, at Elkhart General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

Don was born March 25, 1944, to the late Maurice and Verdella (Widmer) Krabill in Washington, Iowa.

On Oct. 14, 1967, he married Jurate Z. Jasinsas in Paris, Ontario. She survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Heather C. Shepherd (Dustin) of Lake Oswego, Ore.; a son, Derek A. Krabill (Norm Buchbinder) of New York City; grandsons Matthew and Justin Buchbinder and Jack Shepherd; sisters Joyce Stutzman (Merle) of Urbandale, Iowa, and Phyllis Krabill of Malvern, Pa.; and a brother, David Krabill (Bev) of Goshen. Don is also survived by a brother-in-law, Victor Jasin of London, Ontario.

He was preceded in death by his in-laws, Eugene and Regina Jasin.

Don graduated from high school in Kalona, Iowa, and graduated from Goshen College. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Don was the president of Geocel Corp. for 38 years.

Don was very active in the Elkhart community with board service to the Greater Elkhart Chamber of Commerce as chairman; Elkhart Center, a downtown revitalization organization, as a founding member; Purdue University Elkhart Advisory Council; Elkhart Chamber Education Foundation as chairman; St. Thomas Parish Finance Committee; Elkhart Jaycees; Elkhart Rotary; Elkhart General Hospital Board as chairman; Beacon Health Systems Board as chairman; Rieth-Riley; Stanley Clark School; and Women’s Care Center Advisory Board.

Don was a steadfast husband, father, friend and mentor. He touched everyone in the Elkhart community with his kindness, knowledge, generosity and serving spirit. He will be truly missed.

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 5, at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home, where a vigil will be at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Father Jason Freiburger will officiate. Burial will follow in Rice Cemetery.
