LETTER TO THE EDITOR: BE AWARE OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

To the Editor: 

This may hit home to some, may bring back memories, or you may be shocked at the information.

Domestic Violence is not only physical … it is also mental, emotional, financial, spiritual and verbal. Many say abusive is worse than the physical.The bones heal, black and blues go away, but the verbal abuse is long term abuse.

Some facts:

1 out 3 women have been in an abusive relationship in their life time. It can take up to 7 times for a women to finally leave her abuser, and not for reasons people think. The women loves their partner, and wants to make it work. Or he told her, he would never do it again. Or he puts fear into her. He threatens to hurt the children or family members … these are just some reasons. 

These women aren’t weak … they are fighting for their lives and for their children’s lives.
