BY T MICHELE WALKER – As the sun set on the Lemon Bay High School quad last Thursday evening, the L.A. Ainger Middle School Jazz Band took the stage to perform for the first time this season.
“This is the first time our jazz band is performing this year,” said Mr. Tim Ostrow, Director of Bands at L.A. Ainger Middle School. “We want to thank some of the Lemon Bay High School players for filling in and helping us out.”
It may have been their first concert, but they sounded terrific. “We made a few mistakes in that last number,” explained Ostrow, “but what do you do when you’re playing football and you drop the ball? You keep going. And that’s what we did. Don’t they sound great?”
The audience applauded with appreciation and support as the middle school jazz band finished their portion of the concert. While the high school jazz band took the stage, Mr. Ostrow thanked the crowd, “Just keep these kids in band and keep them playing. That’s what’s important.”
