Michael Saunders opened a real estate office in Boca Grande, joining forces with Carol Stewart. Talk of changing the name of Cayo Costa State Park was quickly shut down at a largely attended meeting.
TWENTY YEARS AGO
Sprint installed an intermittent sonic bird repellent to its cell tower to discourage pigeons and starlings from roosting on it. The bakery reported that the issues associated with the birds had been reduced.
TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO
A landscape crew planting a palm on Grouper Hole Drive discovered a skull in a shallow grave. Further investigation revealed that it was a graveyard back in the 20s and 30s.
THIRTY YEARS AGO
The Temp hosted Royal Palm Players’ annual coffeehouse-style poetry reading, appropriately called “And the Beat Goes on …” Fifteen readers of diverse ages and backgrounds enthralled the appreciative audience.
