Bob Fletcher was stunning in drag in “California Suite” and spaghetti dinners and pancake breakfasts were all the rage.

FIFTEEN YEARS AGO

Mount 7th Street was on the move. The 5,000 cubic yard dirt pile taken from a downtown drainage project was about to be taken to the causeway for least tern nesting. John Paul Turner was doin’ the robot at The Island School’s Friendship Dance.

TWENTY YEARS AGO

Artist Jack Horner was profiled and a strong message boils it down – chew tobacco, sling paint and hurl expletives.

A three-bedroom, two-bath villa on the beach (Lighthouse 17), close to the village, was for sale for $395,000.

THIRTY YEARS AGO

Four 20 to 30-foot tall acacia trees which stood for a decade along the west side of Railroad Depot were taken out, much to the dismay of many. Chi Chi the dancing dog made it on stage at Talent Night.
