The West Charlotte County Republican Club is planning its 8th annual golf outing on Saturday, July 23 at Lemon Bay Golf Club, limited to the first 100 registered golfers. The cost is $75 for WCCRC members and $100 for non-members, and tickets include a continental breakfast and lunch. There will be individual and team prizes, including two $10,000 hole-in-one prizes and chances to win a four-day, three-night cruise. Each registered golfer will receive one ticket for door prizes and one cruise chance ticket.
Golfers can earn several opportunities for more cruise chance tickets by landing on designated par 3 greens and by participating in the putting contest. A shotgun start is planned for 9 a.m., and lunch will be served around 1 p.m. The drawing of the cruise winner will be at the end of the luncheon. WCCRC member Ray Corcoran said non-players are welcome to attend the event. “For $25, guests can enjoy the continental breakfast, lunch, ride the greens in a golf cart, and they’ll be eligible for a door prize,” Corcoran said.
The format is “Shamble, 2 BB of the foursome.” Everyone will tee off and then choose the best drive. Everyone plays his or her own ball from that point to the hole. Men will play the blue tees and the ladies will play the red tees. Players can make their own foursome and can come as a double or a single. Proceeds from the event will go toward campaign funding for the WCCRP projects. “We will be giving a $1,000 donation to the Lemon Bay Golf Club junior golfing program as well,” Corcoran said.
Hole sponsorships are still needed. You can also advertise in the event book. For $25, you’ll get a half-page advertisement when you sponsor a sign. The Lemon Bay Golf Club is located at 9600 Eagle Preserve Dr. in Englewood. For more information or to obtain an entry form, send an email to RCIC@comcast.net or call (941) 830-2587.
