Marilyn Doris Thiemann Thurner, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, was welcomed into heaven on June 7, 2018. Marilyn leaves a long legacy of caring and love and a life shared with her loving husband of 63 years, Bill.
Marilyn was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on April 13, 1933 and is preceded in death by her parents, Julius Matthias and Helen Hemsath Thiemann.
Marilyn was raised in Cincinnati and educated at the Sacred Heart School, graduating in 1950. She then attended Our Lady of Cincinnati College and later transferred to Xavier University, graduating in 1954.
Marilyn and Bill married on November 27, 1954 and began their life together in Cincinnati, where they raised their seven children. They also resided in North Port, Michigan and Boca Grande.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, William Andrew Thurner; her children: Susan Thurner Vollmer and husband Chris; Steven William Thurner; Julie Thurner Grisham and husband Jimmy; Emily Thurner Rowe and her husband, Greg; David William Thurner; Lisa Thurner Baumes and her husband, Ross; and Diane Thurner March and her husband, Perrin.
Marilyn was grandmother to 25 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Marilyn was preceded in death by her brother, Howard G. Thiemann, and his wife, Charlotte.
A mass celebrating the life of Marilyn was held Tuesday, June 12 in Cincinnati. Memorial donations in her honor may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, (800) 822-6344.
