Ann was born in Birmingham, AL to Robert and Irene Breedlove. She was raised in Kansas City, MO, where she met the love of her life, George Landis Arehart, at age 16. Ann and George were married July 13, 1944 in Pensacola, FL, where George was stationed during WWII. They raised their three daughters in Johnson County, KS, where Ann was a stay at home mother, and whose life was devoted to her family. In 1968, Ann and George moved to Florida, eventually settling in Boca Grande, FL, where they lived for nearly 35 years. In 2011, they moved to St. Petersburg, FL.
Ann’s home was always open to family and friends, including her daughters’ and her grandchildren’s friends. She will always be remembered for her generosity, her beautiful smile, contagious laugh, and brilliant sense of humor. But what will be missed the most is Ann’s unconditional love for her family and friends.
Ann was predeceased by her husband, George, her parents, and brothers Robert Breedlove and Frank Breedlove. She is survived by her much loved and loving daughters, Linda (Del) Catlett, Kerry (Don) Gilbert, and Barbara (Tony) Sutton; her grandchildren, Laurie (Charlie) Cole, Shane (Elena) Gibson, Chris Catlett, Jerry Hartley, Dana (Scott) Catlett Wagner, and Scott (Teresa) Gibson; thirteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and her brother, John Breedlove. During the last four years of her life, Ann was lovingly cared for by Suzette Douglas, whom she called “Sissy” and her daughters called “Sis.
Services will be at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery (MemorialParkFuneralHome.com) in St. Petersburg on Monday, July 6, 2015. Visitation at 1 p.m., service at 2 p.m. with interment immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Suncoast Hospice (TheHospice.org), whose staff was so kind and comforting during Ann’s last days.
