Local CHEC to conduct free programs in November

Take a walk on the wet side! Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center, Inc. (CHEC) will be conducting free Seagrass Adventure Estuary wading trips at Cedar Point Environmental Park, 2300 Placida Road, Englewood at 9 a.m. on the following dates in 2016: • November 22, 2016 • November 26, 2016 • December 19, 2016 • December 26, 2016 • December 29, 2016

After an introductory program on aquatic environments, participants will walk a short distance to Lemon Bay where, using dip nets and hand viewers, they will wade into the shallow waters in search of the plants and animals that reside there.

This exciting hands-on activity is both educational and fun for people of all ages. Participation is limited; therefore, pre-registration is necessary for this free program.

All children must be accompanied by an adult. For further information and/or to register, call Cedar Point Park at (941) 475-0769. Additional Seagrass wading trips will be conducted during 2017. Seagrass Adventures are made available with funding support from the Mosaic Company in cooperation with Charlotte County Parks & Recreation, and they are conducted by the Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center (CHEC).

You can also join Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center at the monthly Little Explorers Program at Cedar Point Environmental Park on Wednesday, Nov. 23 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. This free 1-hour nature adventure is for toddlers and their moms, dads, grandparents or caregivers to share stories, songs, crafts & short outdoor walks to help instill an appreciation of our natural environment. Please wear closed-toed shoes with socks for any outdoor activities.

Registration is required. Participants may bring a snack to share with their toddler after the adventure. These programs are organized & conducted by the Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center and are supported by Charlotte County Parks & Natural Resources and the Mosaic Company. Cedar Point Park is a Charlotte County facility located at 2300 Placida Road in Englewood.
