Here is your island Easter in a pastel nutshell

Good Friday begins the final weekend of “season” on the island, and it begins with the annual Palm on Park sale and the Walk of the Cross.

Lilly Pulitzer fans, this is your chance to get some of the greatest bargains of the season at The Palm on Park Easter sale. The store opens at 9 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m.

At noon today the Walk of the Cross will take place, beginning at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church on Park Avenue. All church congregations will join in the walk, which goes through the Stations of the Cross at different points on the island. Everyone is welcome to come along.

Good Friday service at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church will be held at 1:15 p.m., after the Walk. They will also hold Holy Saturday Easter vigil on Saturday, April 15 at 8 p.m., and Easter Sunday masses will be held at 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m.

At the First Baptist Church of Boca Grande, a Good Friday service will be held at 3 p.m. They will hold a Palm Sunday adult Sunday school at 9 a.m., with Easter morning worship at 10 a.m. with soloist Lenee Schroder in attendance. Holy Communion will be observed on Easter Sunday as well.

The Boca Grande United Methodist Church will hold Easter services on Sunday at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. They will also hold a special children’s Easter experience at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Easter morning.

At Our Lady of Mercy, Good Friday liturgy will be held at 3 p.m. Holy Saturday Easter vigil will take place at 8 p.m. Easter Sunday mass will be held at 8, 9, 10 and 11 a.m.

The traditional island egg hunt will take place on Saturday, April 15 at 10 a.m.

There will be three separate egg hunts, starting with the youngest kids (4 years of age and under), then the 5-7 age group and finally the 8-11 years of age group. Everyone is encouraged to arrive by 9:45 a.m. For more information, call 964-2564.
