Construction status updates, vibration analysis reports and a special request were on the agenda for The Gasparilla Island Bridge Authority Engineering Committee meeting held on Wednesday, April 13 in the Bridge Authority conference room.
A request from Wagner Trucking to drive a metal track vehicle over the causeway was discussed as well, but before a decision can be made the entire GIBA board must be consulted.
Submitted change orders from GLF included access ladder and hatch modifications, asphalt millings, additional pier lighting, removal of the old customer service building, drive testing for oscillations, lift station, latching circuit installation, balance weights and an auxiliary span drive.
Future anticipated GLF change orders include a maintenance walkway tie in to the gravity wall, removal of creosote piles from the old fender system, removal of excess millings and a seawall tie in to the existing cap revision.
The engineering committee will make suggestions to the Gasparilla Island Bridge Authority Board of Supervisors at their quarterly meeting scheduled for 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20 at the Boca Grande Community Center Woman’s Club Room.
