■ STAFF REPORT
Perry Johnson will return to the Boca Grande Camera Club on Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 9:30 a.m. in the Houghton Room at The Boca Grande Community Center. Perry has been one of the group’s most popular speakers, and his presentations are beneficial for anyone interested in learning more about photography. As always, new members of all levels are welcome.
Johnson’s program, “From Camera to Print – A protocol for success” will cover the progression that professional photographers use when approaching most any assignment, no matter what that may be including:
- Subject – how can I illustrate what story I’m trying to tell with my camera.
Capturing the image based on subject, equipment, time of day, safe captures and variations
- Evaluating the images, the good, bad and ugly
- Image editing – must do steps in Photoshop, Lightroom or similar editing program. These are the steps most every professional does quickly and efficiently to all of their image for optimum results.
The second half of the presentation will include image editing examples. Students will be walked through actual images using raw files to illustrate how basic edits save photographers time and product better results. Time permitting we will also walk through some different presets to help make common images more interesting.
This workshop is facilitated by Perry Johnson and presented through SRQ Photo School, an arm of his marketing and communications company. Johnson is a classically-trained commercial photographer and graphic designer for the past 25 years who has taught countless photography workshops and courses over the years to individuals, groups and business like Target and Lockheed Martin.
