When you go to the beach for the day, it’s a long haul between the sand and the parking lot. Sometimes, in the fray, an item will escape your grasp, or you’ll look back and see a piece of garbage laying on the beach. Do you go back?
It may seem sometimes like one piece of trash on the beach isn’t going to make a difference, but it does. The photos at right show what happens when many beachgoers decided their little piece of trash wouldn’t make a difference.
This was the morning of July 5 on Boca Grande beaches. Regular morning beach walkers and sea turtle patrollers picked all of this garbage up.
Do you understand now, why we have signs at the downtown accesses that say, “Please, don’t trash our beach?”
