Anyone who has traveled to or from the island since Wednesday will have noticed the barge sitting just south of the middle bridge. It is hard to miss.

Lots of red, white and blue will be found on the bike path this Saturday, March 17, for the annual Boca Grande Bike Parade, sponsored by Lee County Parks and Recreation.

The theme for both the bike parade and the fair to follow is “Grande Olde Flag.”

Lee County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a stolen car and a stolen bicycle this week on the island.

Gritsy, the wayward Jack Russell Terrier from the south end of the island, has been returned to his home after almost six weeks of absence. Thanks to all who helped look for her.

BY ALICE GORMAN - From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, The Johann Fust Community Library will host a very special event in the loggia: Sissy Yates Designs will present a jewelry sale as a benefit for the library.

The Kruger Brothers and members of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra will perform a special concert at the Boca Grande Community Center Auditorium on Monday, April 2 at 7 p.m.

This is expected to be a sold-out concert.
