David “Sam” Krieg, 77, died on Oct. 22, 2013 after a two and a half year battle with melanoma cancer.
To the Editor,
We are responding to the letter published in the Oct. 25 Beacon from Mr Len Tatko concerning potential solutions to parking issues in town. He concludes his letter with the statement that “Boca Grande wants to look like 2013.”
To the Editor:
After a summer’s absence, all in Boca remains the same; the Gilchrist matter was on the Beacon’s front page when we left and it greets us on our return. While I can’t remember if the spin was in before we left, it certainly is now. By that I mean the appropriation of the title “community”, to designate the scheme that would convert the Gilchrist median into a 300 vehicle parking platform, seems like a bit of word play to try to make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear.
A minor skirmish and topic of cocktail gossip has been brewing for the last few years, with several negative statements being published by well-meaning (but poorly-informed) individuals regarding the use of “curb-lawns” on Gilchrist Avenue.
I am writing to offer a more optimistic view of Asperger Syndrome than what was offered in Dr. Wright’s column on last Friday. As the parent of a teenage son with Asperger Syndrome, I am very familiar with this Autism Spectrum Disorder. There have been tremendous advancements in teaching strategies, early intervention programs, and support for parents and even grandparents.
