Once again, RPP is pleased to announce that several scholarships are available for children, ages 8 to 12, who love performing on stage. Last year, Wesley Locke, a well-loved island star, won a scholarship to the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts (AADA), in Manhattan from RPP. This year, the scholarship money is for our younger stars.
Up to five lucky winners will attend the Lemondrops Summer Theater Camp at the Lemon Bay Playhouse, in Englewood.
For three weeks, kids ages 8 to 12 will have fun doing improvisations, playing theater games, learning body movement and blocking, while practicing tongue twisters and puppetry.
The camp runs from 9 am to noon, Monday through Friday, July 13th to August 1st. The last night will be celebrated with a specially written play starring every camper.
Any child, age 8 to 12, is eligible. Just send us a short video starring your child. Let them tell us, or act out, why theater camp is right for them. (Cell videos are perfect.) Then fill out the attached form and send it in. Entries must be submitted to Royal Palm Players by May 21st at 5 PM. Just email them to firstname.lastname@example.org. For more information, call Kathy at 941-964-2670.
Parents of the scholarship winners are responsible for transportation to and from camp every day. RPP is responsible for the cost of the program. The kids are responsible for having fun every single day.
It’s the RPP Kids’ Drama Club scholarship. For a budding actor, it’s going to be a summer of fun.
