To the Editor:
After a summer’s absence, all in Boca remains the same; the Gilchrist matter was on the Beacon’s front page when we left and it greets us on our return. While I can’t remember if the spin was in before we left, it certainly is now. By that I mean the appropriation of the title “community”, to designate the scheme that would convert the Gilchrist median into a 300 vehicle parking platform, seems like a bit of word play to try to make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear.
I first heard about the bulk parking plan in early 2012 from Bob Fletcher who was working on a neighborhood concept with Ed Cruz. In a meeting with Jack Damioli of the Gasparilla Inn, one or both of these gentlemen received a schematic from Jack. As the design then still remains now, the question of attribution has to do with the patent holder; it is the Damioli Plan, or the Inn Plan or even the Gasparilla Inn Plan, but it is not the Community Plan.
